Before now, chatting on Facebook Messenger seemed like fun until it was time to refer to a message you sent a while ago or reply to a group message directed at you. Avid Facebook users find it difficult to refer and reply to messages without causing confusion in the conversation.
While some users had to resort to copying and pasting messages so that there would not be communication problems, others had to retype the message entirely. But that’s no longer the case. Facebook heard user complaints and rolled out a new feature: the Quoted Reply Feature. This feature is available on Facebook Messenger as well as the Facebook app itself. Here is how it works.
What Does the Quoted Reply Feature Do?
As the name implies, the Quoted Reply feature helps users point out the exact message they refer to in a chat and reply. This way, their response makes more sense for other people in the conversation and helps them understand what you’re talking about.
How to Send Quoted Replies in 3 Simple Steps?
The Quoted Reply feature is similar to the one already being used on WhatsApp and operates almost similarly.
Quoted Reply on a Phone
Now you can do it in three simple steps, as follows:
- Tap on the message you would like to quote and hold it.
- Watch out for the arrow button that would appear on the right-hand side of the selection.
- Click on the arrow and type in your reply in the message box, or click on any emoji reaction you like.
Quoted Reply on Web
Here is what you need to do on a computer/laptop:
- Open Facebook Messenger on the web.
- Hover your mouse on a message you wish to reply to.
- Click on the “…” icon that pops up or the Reply icon, type in your reply, and send.
The quoted reply feature also works with videos, GIFs, emojis, images, and other chat features. This update came about as part of the integration that Mark Zuckerberg decided would occur between the company’s social media messaging channels — Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. This integration was done to enable a more seamless transfer of messages between the apps.
To access the quoted reply feature, ensure that your Facebook apps are updated with the latest feature.
The Quoted Reply feature makes it easy to navigate through a barrage of chats and messages without any confusion. You no longer have to worry about a direct message to you getting lost or not replied to.
